19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

Success also means the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
